Maxine and I were best friends when we were small starting at age 4 or 5 and into elementary school.  We lived a half block from each other.  She had a great 'secret closet' in her bedroom that connected to the closet in the room next door since the wall separating them had not been finished.  When she moved to the south side, I rode my bike to see her.  It never occurred to me how scary it is to ride across a bridge when you can see the Tuscarawas River running under it until I was faced with it.  We had wonderful times together including peeling sunburns.  I've got the brown skin spots as proof of those sunburns now.

So sorry to hear of Max's death..........we became good friends at the start of 10th grade - same homeroom with Mr. Harmon!   Her Dad had a Studebaker car that we went everywhere in and I fondly remember the summer after 10th grade when we slept over at each others houses and baked chocolate chip cookies over and over.  Max had a technique - which I still do - that made the cookies soon as you take them out of the oven, you smash them down with the spatula!!!            I last saw her about 14 years ago - she had become friends with the people who bought my mother's house and we all met in Chagrin Falls for an afternoon.  It was as though we had never lost contact!!           Rest in peace, Max, and I'll have a chocolate chip cookie in your honor.......................
